Over the past month, I have been testing out the Gravity Lift wireless charger from the company [Fuse] Chicken. I have never used their products before but after using this wireless charger, they have made me a fan.
As I have mentioned in previous posts, the new iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X are capable of charging wirelessly.
This is a welcomed feature to iOS users because Android phones have been able to do this for years.
This wireless charging base from mophie, is one of two wireless chargers that Apple recommends. The other is the Belkin BOOST UP Wireless Charging Pad. Not only does Apple recommend these but they are also two of the few chargers that wireless charge your iPhone faster than the normal wall charger that comes in the iPhone box. Your tiny charging brick, that comes packaged with your phone, charges at a maximum of 5 watts. With mophie’s wireless charging base it will max out at 7.5 watts. That is definitely a plus over using any other wireless chargers on the market.
It does what it’s supposed to do. I won’t argue with that, one bit. It is very convenient to throw it down on the pad and not have to fiddle with cables.
It’s not perfect though.
In order to get your phone charging, it has to sit on the pad at the correct angle. It will not charge if it is too far to the side. My fiancé and I have run into this multiple times and have woken up with near depleted batteries. You will run into this with any wireless charger you come across but it is still something I wish I didn’t have to worry about when paying $60 for a charger. Maybe within the next couple of years we will have true wireless charging, through the air.
My only other gripe is if you want to charge your phone while using it, good luck. Unless you hover over the device, while it is sitting on the charger, you will not be able to use your phone and charge it at the same time. And that is a little too inconvenient for me.
mophie did it right when it comes to wireless charging. It charges fast and is extremely easy. But for $60, you will have to make the decision if the price is worth the simplicity of wireless charging.
Me? I will definitely keep it around the house for those times when I don’t even have to think about charging. It will be a convenient gadget to have laying around to use as needed.
Thanks for stopping in!
